Glasgow Kiltwalk 2020 postponed
March 30, 2020
Due to the current global health situation, the Glasgow Kiltwalk 2020 has sadly but understandably been postponed until further notice. The Kiltwalk organisers had originally agreed to add 40% to the amount which we fundraised as team. However, Sir Tom Hunter and the Kiltwalk Foundation recognise that this is a crucial time for charities to really help those who need it most and so they announced that the amount which we had fundraised by 31st March will be doubled!! We have been blown away by this unexpected and overwhelming generosity. We are very thankful and grateful to Sir Tom Hunter and the Kiltwalk Foundation for supporting Love Ghana at this time.

Love Ghana Team 2019
November 01, 2019
On the 2019 trip, the Love Ghana team took a Solar trial kit to the village of Have Tornu where they will be trialling the technology this year. In the last few years, mobile data has become common place in Ghana making it easier to communicate all year round. We have been hearing reports on how well the solar charged batteries and torches are being received in the community and so far, it's all looking good.
The team also visited the school in Juapong which has had a number of Love Ghana grants. We were very encouraged to see how the school has grown and developed. We also met Pamela who has been able to go to secondary school with sponsorship from the Mawunyo Oil processing project.
At the 2019 AGM in Ghana, we heard how many of our projects are now self-sustaining and some have expanded. New work skills projects were given initial funding and we heard how well the plans for the social centre in Ho are progressing. Mary who was our first sponsored apprentice has completed her training and has started her own dressmaking business. Mary is a single mum and the opportunity has positively impacted her family's lives.

Launch of new co-operative in Have Tornu
October 22, 2018
Love Ghana provided a grant to start a new co-operative in the village of Have Tornu. It was wonderful to hear news that there was a celebration yesterday to officially launch a Fishing Co-operative. Having built the boat, the group will catch fish, smoke them and sell the fish in the local market. This will bring much needed income to some vulnerable families and this will enable them to buy food and school supplies for their children.

It has been Love Ghana's dream for years to have a community centre in Ho where we can have a food bank, clothing store, counselling room, run a work cooperative, a cafe, build rooms for people to retreat and convalesce and more. We bought a piece of land for this last year and the first building is currently going up which is very exciting! We will keep you posted on how the Ho Centre is progressing.
